Great!!! Looks like the dead leaves may have covered it. I was starting to think that maybe my car had the grommet but some cars did not.

This is such useful information. i am preparing to install Lidatek LE-30 and also need to pull wires from engine compartment into the passenger compartment. Question, though - how did you pull wires from the engine compartment through the FIRST firewall - the one that separates the ECU box from the engine?

Thanks. Rosty

Finished my install. Had to cut a hole in a grommet that lets brake lines through the first bulkhead (there are two AC lines and two brake lines going in parallel right next to the driver side front fender. Then I removed a key hole shaped rubber grommet between the brake booster and windshield wiper motor (right next to the ECU box), pushed a foam insert into the car with a long screw driver, dropped the panel under the instrument cluster (two bolts on the bottom, one on the side where fuses are and pull hard to disengage latches on the top end) and saw the hole from inside (to the left of the steering wheel column and brake pedal linkage). Based on the aluminum mount next to the key shaped hole in the bulkhead it seems to be a provision for clutch pedal and linkage for manual transmission cars. It was tricky to re-install the rubber grommet at the end (make sure the hole you made in it to let the wires in is sealed with some sealant), but positioning it carefully over the hole and applying pressure at the edges with two long flat head screwdrivers did the trick. I would recommend to apply some sealant from inside the car to the edges of the grommet as well).

Thanks to everyone on the Internet who shared their bits of knowledge.

Rosty

Actually, use of laser devices is governed by the Food and Drug Administration (not FCC) and there are no specific laws against having any laser light emitting devices on vechicles :-) Also, Lidatek only jams for 5 sec to let a driver quickly slow down, then it shuts off and allows Lidar to take a speed reading which by that time is within posted limit. Saved my bacon in allroad multiple times over last 7 years...

To the right of my brake fluid reservoir is a big black box with mesh around it. I can't find my grommet at all! I'm driving a right hand drive car, can anyone help!

I found it, worked great. I used an industrial needle and pulled the wire through with pliers. The wire hole is snug. Thanks for this thread, it really helped me out.
