Default Instrument Cluster

Having issues with my 2008 A6 3.2. Center of cluster is completely black and time, date keep resetting. Tach and speedometer are fine. New instrument cluster from dealer is $2,150 for just the part.....not happening.

Spent a lot of time trying to find the exact part number as dealer has cautioned me that if it is not exact it won't program to my car.

Their are supposedly, again according to dealer, only 2 part numbers to fit my vehicle: 4f0920983r and 4f0920983rx. I can find 4f0920983 all over ebay and salvage yards--but not with the R or RX designation. Dealer doesn't know what the difference between the R designation and non designation..............ugh.

Anybody have any insights?

I have also researched companies that can re-pixel the center cluster but that does't address the time, date issue.

Any help appreciated

so, when I was looking for motor mounts for my 06 4.2, I ended up discovering, that the base part number was good for many different c6 configurations. It was the letter codes that told you what engine size it fit. At one point I discovered that yoyopart.com was a pretty good resource for cross referencing part numbers. Unfortunatly, it does not look like they have numbers for clusters. I had another site, I will see if I can find it.

Love Google: and https://www.jimellisaudiparts.com not sure why Audi dealer ships don't seem to have this much info, but...

This link shows that the R/RX versions have been discontinued and replaces with something.
https://www.jimellisaudiparts.com/pr...0920983RX.html

So searching for just the base number we find: 2 replacement parts, I will let you take it from here.

Good luck and I hope this also helps

Also as a parts location service, I discovered that
Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market

is where a lot of the auto recyclers post their inventory.

Thx. Don't think the Jim Ellis compatible part is it (no pic) and its $350 vs $2,150 both being new. Google doesn't provide much help on the compatible part numbers either.

Again, thanks for trying. I will keep searching.

You will need to do your research. Look on Ebay, Amazon, other forums as well as this one. It took me almost 10 hours of searching to figure out exactly which motor mount I needed and quite a few more to find one.

Also, oddly enough google searches for audi part numbers often times work better if you actually put spaces and or dashes in the part number. Not always, but try that.

It can be very frustrating finding certain parts.

Don't forget 7zap.com it has a boat load of parts diagrams, for every model and configuration.
