Oil Change interval

Oil Change interval
If Audi programs the MMI to remind one to change the oil at 10K miles and gives included maintenance up to 50K miles why is then telling the dealers to change the oil at 15K instead?
Has anyone yet won this battle?
I want my MMI to tell me to change the oil at 15K or I want the dealer to change the oil at 10K. Is that too much to ask?

Re: Oil Change interval
I have 16,500 kilometers (10,230 miles) on my A6, and just called my dealer yesterday to inquire when I next need to bring my car in for an oil change. The tech said 25,000 kms (15,500 miles), but they recommend a change now, at my expense, as they only pay for the scheduled changes at 8,000, 25,000 etc.
Given it a lease they can me paying for a recommended vs mandatory oil change. I have wrestled with this issue with several cars over the years. I made the mistake of leasing a GM car for my son, and they insisted on an oil change every 5,000 kms, at my cost of course. I raised the question, "why is it when I have to pay, its evey 5000 kms, but when the manufacturer pays it is every 25,000 kms.?" I realize that Audi & BMW use synthetic oil, that last twice as long as regular oil, but the rip off from dealers remains.
I have got into the habit of every time a dealer recomends a service, e.g. transmission flush, I phone the manufacturers 800 number to verify whether it is required for warranty compliance or not. 75% of the time the response is no, not for warranty, but it is recommended.
And car dealers wonder why they are not held in high esteem. My apologies to the odd exception of car dealers.

Re: Bring the car to me and I'll reset the service indicator correctly!
I have the VAG. Maybe I can do it. Do you mean to have it alert every 10K or 1 year instead of the current settings?
