Default Ever drive an RS4?

I found the ride to be tolerable but wouldn't want it to be much firmer. I'd be interested to know if you are in a position to compare the two.

Default I do...

I had the same feeling when I 1st bought my C6. The armrest just doesn't feel right. It still isn't as comfortable as my old, much cheaper car. I have adapted to it, but IMO, it is a true flaw, but not a deal breaker. The car has much too many other great things going for it to lose the deal over that little item.

You'll forget about it soon enough and adapt to where you put your arm...

Default I think this will help you ...

I am 5'10" with long arms and I sit back more reclined then I should ... you would think a 6'1" person was in my seat when I get out.

I am also big time into being comfortable when I drive and if a car is not comfortable I will not buy it. IMO this is not just limited to the armrests but also the seat comfort, the headrest position, etc.

My A6 4.2 is VERY comfortable to drive, I relax my left elbow on the window sill (with the window closed) and my left hand on the steering wheel. I very rarely use the door armrest because if anything it is too low for me thoguh sometimes in traffic I will use it when I get restless but that is very rare.

Once in a while, I rest my elbow on the window sill, and my hand will hold the ceiling grip. Again I find this very comfortable ...

Get the car and enjoy, it really is comfortable

You should buy the car which you like the best.

My S6 it just plain perfect. It is the best car in the world!

I'm 6'2" and have no problems with comfort. Can't imagine better seats.

The transmission is the best I have ever tried. Shifts are very good and precise. Downshifts are very quick and correct. If you want crisper shifts leave it in S mode.

I also looked at the A8 but it is very different car. Not what I was looking for.

The BMW is not in the Audi class for fit and finish.

Finally, the car has been absolutely fault free.

Default Lots of useful feedback in this thread

Have to agree with you about the BMW fit and finish, at least in the current 5 series. BMW has tweaked the interior for '08, so I'll have to see if that makes a noticeable difference. It'll probably come down to the A8 SWB Sport and the S6. If the test drive of the A8 doesn't do it for me, I will try to at least sit in an S6 and if I like the sports seats as much as everyone else seems to, I'll most likely pull the trigger.

Congratulations on your car, it sounds like you really nailed your choice!

Default Try posting here and on the regional forums when it comes time to drive, and see if

somebody who has already purchased the car will let you take a short drive. A broken in car always feels better.

If it's any consolation, I am very short, and although I fit in most Audis better than most other cars, the window switch controls are usually too far back on the arm rest to be easily used for me. It's always something;-)

Default You bet - the creme beige (the headliner is creme too)

is brilliant, makes the cabin bright, airy and classy. Hell to keep clean. The driver's chair has a black strip on the lower back area from my belts - I now take them off when driving.
