Where is engine coolant drain plug on 3.2L FSI?
Please someone with Bentley manual check where the drain plug on the 3.2L FSI engine is. I am in the process of coolant change. I looked underneath of the engine and found a black screw with torx head under the left engine mount; however, I am not sure that is the right plug to drain the coolant from engine.
I will promise this forum that I will share my two important findings on 3.2L FSI engine while I was doing 55K maintenance and repairing P2294 CEL.

- Carbon deposit on intake valve
- Cam follower wears on HPFP (high pressure fuel pump)

While I find witholding potentially valuable info as ransom for an answer to your question a little questionable, I'll try to help you anyways.
There are two drain plugs. One in the thermostat housing and another in the front coolant line. Both should be utilized to allow complete draining without vacuum-lock.

Scooter,
Thanks for your response. Didn't find a drain at t-stat housing. I used one in lower coolant hose to drain. However, this hose is connected to the t-stat / water pump and is too high to drain the coolant from cylinder block. I am thinking there must be a drain plug on engine block somewhere.
Sorry you feel that I was withholding info to get a response to my question. I should write in present progress tense. I am still working on the car. I think my HPFP is toasted per resistance reading. Hopefully I like to get everything done by this weekend and post my findings.

To drain coolant from 3.2L engine, open drain plug at coolant hose and disconnect coolant hose from engine oil cooler (left of engine oil pan). (disconnect hose that closes to sway bar).
