Would you buy an Audi if...
I live over 2 hours from the nearest Audi dealer. There used to be a dealer where I live (Wichita, KS), but they closed over 15 years ago.
I've had an Audi in the past (a 1992 S4), and would love to rejoin the family with a new A6. But I'm a little hesitant about buying a car that has no support network nearby.
I've checked around town, and not only will no one do warranty work, no one has the equipment or training to work on a newer Audi at all. The VW dealer (I've got two VW's right now) literally laughed at me when I asked if they'd work on an Audi.
So, would you still consider buying a car with no support, or would you keep looking and hope that a dealer will eventually return?
Thanks,
Jeff J

Dealer support is very important so. . .
you have a choice to say I am willing to drive 2 hours to service my vehicle OR
2 hours is something I value to spend on other things that are more important to me like family or sporting activities.
A car at the end of the day is really basic transportation, the other discussions are merely about quality and other subjective things.
I believe that there must be a balance in the time you spend because you can't get back time. I would choose the best car with the best dealer support near where I live.

No way from personal experience.....
I bought both of my A6s out of town. One turned into a problem child. The other has been fine.
It visited the dealer 36 times.
Each way was 65 miles.
So 4680 turns into alot of miles for service. Many repeat trips for their poor performance.
Having good service or close service is important, unless you want to spend your life driving back and forth and now the gas prices.

Not a chance.
There are too many other great cars out there to choose from that presumably have more convenient (to you) dealers. Obviously, I think Audis are great but as much as we trash other brands in here sometimes....the fact is that BMW, MB, Lexus, etc. all make some incredible machines.

Yes - my dealer is a 2 hours drive away and
it is no problem as the cars are just rock solid.
When I have to have them serviced I combine the trip with a day shopping trip with wife and kids.
All other German brands are also two hours away.

Nope. Too many little glitches occur that require service visits...
I seem to go about once a month. Nothing that affects the mechanics, but always some warning light or another...

Thanks for the input...
That's sort of what I figured. As much as I'd like to have another Audi, I just can't justify the distance to good service. The dealer in KC said they'd flatbed the car in for service, but only when it actually died. Obviously that doesn't help with annoying warning lights.
And since I own 2 VW Group products right now, I can vouch for how often they need to visit the shop for one thing or another.
Unfortunately, we don't really like Japanese styling (inside or out), and the Saab dealer sucks (had a '99 Viggen prior to this). So that gets us down to MB, BMW, Volvo, and Porsche.
It's really a bummer having a dealer for every brand in town except Audi (and Land Rover).
Anyone know what it takes to get a dealership in a metro area of 500,000 with a high average income? Maybe in a few years...

YES!!!.....
I also have your model S4...ans an S6, I also went with the A6...no regrets. By the way I also live far from the nearest dealership...my new Audi has been kind with its service requirements, unlike my UrS cars...which require more patients then I can tolerate at times...good luck deciding, but the distance to the dealer should be your LAST concern.
