2012 - A/C Compressor doesn't turn on

2012 - A/C Compressor doesn't turn on
My son has a 2012 A7. He bought it used. 94k miles.
The A/C worked great for months, but one day when he was driving, it suddenly quit working.
I took it to a local shop that specializes in German car repair. He's one of the best in the area and knows what he's doing. He made sure the system is charged. No code for the pressure/switch. There are no codes indicating any trouble with the HVAC system. But the compressor doesn't turn on at all. He is stumped. He was going to take it to the dealer but we needed the car so I just picked it up from him for the week.
Has anyone else had similar trouble and found a fix? Or have ideas what to look for?

Forgot to add...
I cleaned the cabin air filter. The condenser (or whatever it's called at the radiator) is not plugged up. The blower fan works. I can get heat out of the vents. No cold air. The shop verified the refrigerant is OK.

Hi, I see you don’t have a follow up post and this is a couple years old. Did you find out what caused your issue? I am currently having the same issue and I’m hoping my ac compressor isn’t bad.
