I got a message on the centerboard display to change the battery in my Advanced Key. (A7 2012 Prestige). After I changed it, there was another message that the key is not recognized and to put it near the marked area on the steering wheel -- but as far I can see there are no relevant markings on the steering wheel. It also said to read the manual, an excellent idea no doubt, except there is nothing in the manual about this issue.

Can a kind soul tell me what exactly should be done?

I did manage to restart the car -- mysteriously I was able to lock and unlock from outside, after which the car started, but I would really like to know what to do for future reference.

There is a key symbol embossed on the dash near the steering wheel, not on it.
