Default Radio off

First world problems, I know.
In my A6 you turn off the radio by pushing down on the volume ****. Surely it's the same in the A7?

That mutes the radio rather than turning it off completely.

So why do you want to turn it off completely?

Why not? If you had heated seats or interior lights that came on all the time when you start the car regardless of whether they were turned off when you shut off the car, it would get pretty frustrating. Same thing with the radio. It should remember whether it was off or on when the car was shut off and not come back on by it self with the ignition switch.

Thank you; this is exactly it.

Ok... I understand what you mean now. But here's another offer:
How about raise the volume down, I'm sure it will remember the volume settings when you come back next morning to turn the car/radio on.

Actually it doesn't do that either, the radio comes back on every time at about 40% volume...really annoying. Why would Audi not provide the ability to turn off the radio like any other car radio or to have the MMI remember what the previous volume setting was? Small complaint but still annoying and unnecessary.

This is basically correct. Volume resets to 12 regardless of what volume you've used prior shutting the engine off. Frank Kaufman reported this issue some months ago & it IS aggravating. Hopefully Audi will correct this in future updates.

Try holding the volume button until the MMI display closes. The radio will be off and the display won't open when you start the car next time. Well at least until you put the car in reverse and the display shows the backup camera.
