Mileage - Long Drive
#11
Drove from Fort Wayne, Indiana to New York City. Mostly Interstate 80 with adaptive cruise set on 74.
We achieved 32.4 on the east route and 31.6 coming back home.
I went 178 miles without touching the brake or accelerator. Adaptive Cruise is great!

I trust everyone quoting mpg numbers is using actual miles driven divided by gas tank gallons filled. The DIS readout is notorious for being optimistic. My A6 is around 10% too high vs actual calculations.
I'm going into my Vag-Com to adjust the DIS to reflect something closer to real world after a couple more mpg calculated fill ups.
[17-Instruments]
[Adaptation-10]->Channel 3
Change 100 to xxx
i.e. DIS: 23 mpg; actual 20 mpg (100*23/20 = 115.0) Change to 115
(increase number to lower DIS, decrease number to raise DIS)
Haven't tried it yet on the C7 A6/A7 but it worked fine on B8 A4.

Wow, those TFSI engines really do gargle with gas compared with the same 3.0L TDI.
I rarely use cruise control, so most of my highway driving consists of acceleration to 106 mph and braking and accelerating again. I rarely get 5-6 miles without having to brake and honk/flash the driver in front of me for going 50mph on the fast lane(welcome to romania).
Even so, I always get 30-31 MPG, depending on how hard I accelerate.
Regular driving at around 70mph, comfort mode, with soft acceleration, reveals an incredible 38-39 MPG.
But you guys still pay less for fuel, considering, diesel fuel is right now at $6.57/gallon
