Phone directory entries?
After I import my cell phone's contacts, the first 20 or entries on the MMI directory are blank before the "A" contacts start to show from my phone.
Is there any way to have just a few contacts show?

That depends on your phone. Which contacts you want to get synced needs to be configured on the phone if your particular phone allows for that kind of configuration. As for your blank entries, that's caused if your phone isn't syncing the name of the contact properly. On some phones you can tell it to use the company name as the name if the contact isn't a person with a first and last name for example.

I have a new Galaxy S6 so not sure how to selectively sync contacts. The MMI does not specify anything, and the first 20 or so entries are blank and do not correlate to anything in my phone's directory.

Can't speak to an Android device, but if I edit the BT connection on my iPhone it lets me change from "All Contacts" to "Favorites". That cuts down from a few hundred to a dozen. Maybe you've got something similar.

On my 13 A7. I have the same issue. Actually it seems like the blank spaces have grown somewhat. However, the other day when the dealer gave me a 2016 A7 loaner, the blank spaces were not there on the loaner. Wonder if something has been corrected in the latest mmi software

Not sure if same issue but on my old Android phone it was caused by how contacts were defined... If the contact data was just 'Company' name & phone number (without any individual's details associated with that contact record) then MMI just showed a blank record sometimes with a phone number.
I ended up exporting all my contacts, cleaning them up in a spreadsheet then reimporting back into phone.

I have traced this back to a Google contact issue that stores any phone # or email address as a contact in "other contacts". You have to disable this setting in the General settings in your email account, then delete the "other contacts" and resync your contacts. Now I dont have this issue.
