Default MPG issues

I’m about halfway through my first tank of gas on my ‘19 A7 and so far I’m getting 13.7 mpg. I’m not driving the thing hard at all right now. I’m on city streets primarily, but 13.7 is really low. For example, driving home tonight, in 3 miles I lost 15 miles on my gauge to empty. It’s been that way the whole time.

Whats going on?

I will say that the old adage holds true on these- mileage improves slowly over the first 1,000 miles. Then, as typical for Audi, it's like you have a brand new engine at 5,000 miles, and again at 20,000.

Make sure you do your own measurements (note the mileage driven and the gas)- the Audi MPG meter tends to be a little optimistic, and the "distance to empty" bases things on how you've been driving for the last little bit and can vary pretty wildly- it's more for a rough estimate rather than an exact look at how much fuel you've had yet.

You should find yourself closer to 20 MPG unless it's true start-and-stop city traffic, in which case you'll likely dip into the teens.

I'm averaging 20MPG with 90% City of Chicago driving. Below is a snapshot of the trend. The outlier is a road trip to Green Lake, WI

Yeah, that's about what I've got too- 17-19 mpg in mostly city stop-and-go and traffic jams, low 20s on regular suburbs roads and around 30 on road trips for around a 22 mpg avg.
