air flow meter problem
I am new to this forum and I have just picked up a 2000 a8 2.8 and have been giving it the once over and I found the wires to my air flow meter had been cut and replaced and 4 of the wires go into the 4 pin plug with a black wire left?
I thought 2000 on was 5 pin and if so has the last owner bought the wrong one and diy it him self?
all help welcome

There should be at least 5 wires...the only black wire that shows in wiring diagrams is actually a 6th wire which is a coax connection (going to ground) to the green wire...green wire is connection #5 on the MAF.

I am lost now. so there should be 6 wires and only 5 connected to the 5 pin.
so I have a 4 pin with 4 wires going in and 1 spare black one?
maf is ser HITACHI 078 133 371E

I don't even have a wiring diagram for your model...only USA models which only came with 4.2 engines.
ETKA parts catalog says that your MAF should be 078 133 471 E (or EX = re-manufactured).
If you stated the part # correctly (ending in "371 E"), I can't even find a reference to that number anywhere.
