Audi Ipod adapter and rotors installed
I installed the Audi ipod adapter and front rotors over the weekend. A few things I found:
Ipod adapter
- Sound quality is great, as good if not better then a CD.
- Install could be easier. Cable to radio does not have a connector, it reuses the one already in the car. Audi says use a special tool from the stealer but I was able to push the old pins out with a jeweler's screwdriver in the middle of each pin after scratching my head for a long while.
Rotors on a 2003 A8
- My Lucas calipers do not have the 7MM hex screws holding the caliper to the bracket instead the slide pins appear to be fixed in place to the brake carrier.
- The 21MM carrier bolts are really tight and I recommend an impact wrench to get them off.

Re: Audi Ipod adapter and rotors installed
The install steps were
1) Pull the radio from the dash
2) Push out the existing wires from the CD changer connector that is already in the back of the radio (It is there if you have a CD changer or not.) You will need a micro sized screwdriver inserted into the center of each pin.
2) push in the new pins into the CD changer connector and reconnect.
3) Route the Ipod connector wire to the glovebox or where ever you want to put your Ipod. I drilled a hole in the glovebox and used the supplied grommet.
4) Reinstall radio and crank up the tunes.
I have the Bose radio, but think it should work on any A8 that has a CD changer input.

Agreed - not to pry but what cost associated? I'm about to...
...buy a Phatnoise off a friend next week and this would significantly change that plan, I'd need to know ASAP.
Would you mind posting a required parts list/source/cost?
Any insight / details greatly appreciated - THANKS - and good work!
