Today, the fuse blew for the locks and windows. I'm guessing there's a short in a door hinge somewhere, probably driver's side, but before I go digging, maybe someone has already BTDT?

You need the wiring diagrams
It's going to be on the positive side of the switch because it is shorting out.
You want to find it before a fire occurs because it has a leakage path that is less than the fuse rating and causing heat.
Essentially, look at the power for the locks and windows, see what color wires they are in the area where it is damaged.....they almost certainly are damaged at a connection, or possible it is cut somewhere along the wire. Once you find it, all you need to do is to reinsulate it or repair and reinsulate.
You already know the area, it shouldn't be that hard to find from visual inspection....it should have a burn mark and your nose might even be able to find that acrid smell.

alas, I don't know where the damage is
I'm just guessing it's in the driver's door hinge because that gets moved a lot. I thought maybe there was a common failure.
OTOH, it could be in the passenger's door, because it was replaced two years ago after an accident, and I've rarely found mechanics who I trust completely.
I was thinking I was safe from fire with the fuse out, but I guess that's not necessarily true.
