Bought a 2004 A8 today, my 1997 A8 is history
I have 30 years of continuous Audi ownership: 4000 4+4, 4000CS, 5000, V8, A8 D2. Yesterday my used car dealer got me a nice 2004 charcoal A8L to replace my 1997 A8. It's been the best car I've ever owned. And thanks to this list an easy car to maintain. I don't expect to get much for it, I currently have oil in the antifreeze resovour and it's got 186,000 miles. I hate to see it go since I just put a $5000 transmission in it last year. Suspension is perfect, so is interior and exterior. It's a shame I'll probably get less than 3K for it. Seems like the new snow tires and tranny should be worth that much. Anyone want to melt down the aluminum?
Guess I'm off to the D3 list-nice knowing ya!

If anyone is interested in a parts car with a new transmission...
I will say that since I installed the rebuilt transmission back in march 2007 the car has run perfect. It's possible the oil problem is only due to the oil cooler but I'm not spending any money to find out. I'd like to think it's worth $3000 since it runs so good and looks great but I'm a realist and it's only worth what some will offer me.
