Now read this thread carefully...especially the parts about "there's one born every minute" & the disconnected CEL and ABS lights >>>

maybe a craiglist ad needs to be placed warning about this as well.

I can't believe this guy PM me if you want a backstory on my encounter with him.

Folks like this make it difficult to sell anything to anyone on the net.

I'm still chasing down things "repaired" wrong by the shop that did the work on my 2001 many years ago. They cut corners to save money, so I have lights that are not all there, a core support that is from a pre-facelift car, based on what I can tell, and other issues that come up from time to time.

If I had not run a VIN check, I would never have known it was a prior total loss repair, and I would have paid nearly 2x what it was/is worth.

PS...Now, Only because of pressure put on him and fear of buyers checking the forums (as many do), he has changed the wording in his CL to include a motor needed and disconnected warning lights.
Those who read the original ad understand why I posted the warning.
The car is still NOT worth ANYWHERE near $5K...more like slightly over (or less?) than part-out price.
My job is done here.

what's interesting is his statement: " Price is firm- blue book is $6300 Extras are worth a $1000".

As you said, it's not worth anywhere close to that given it needs a replacement engine. The fact he has all those tools leads me to believe he potentionaly screwed something up himself.

The guy could have taken the high road and wrote up a sensible 'part out' ad...
