Default Wheels yes ... tires no

The 235/45-17 tires would add ~3/4" to your wheel gap.

A better 17" choice is 245/50-17 or even 225/55-17, though the narrow latter (an Audi A8 OE option size) would look a bit sad on an S8.

Default The narrow 225's might look a bit sad on an S8, but traction is improved in snow & ice.

Whenever you can go narrower and taller, you'll get more bite and better grip in the slippery stuff. You can see the pics of these tires on an S8 in PaulW's post below.

Default Here in the hills of SW PA with the 245/45-18 Pirelli A/S, ...

My S8 becomes a snow plow before it loses traction. I did use dedicated winter tires for four winters but found they weren't worth the hassle of swapping in and out twice a year.

Default RYoung- are you anywhere near Valley Forge? I'll be there next week on business

and would love to get together if possible. I fly into Philly and take the Blue Route up to Conshohoken.

Describe your typical surface conditions and worse case you'll need the S8 to handle.
