Climate Control/Engine Temp issues 1999 A8
Hey everybody!
My 1999 A8 started having symptoms a week ago. First, the heater wouldn't work. I thought that it could be the climate control system or maybe a temperature sensor because when I turned up the temp in full auto mode it either wouldn't do anything or would blow cool air out the front defroster. Strange. Then, yesterday while driving I noticed that the aux fan kicked on because the engine was hotter than normal. It usually runs at about 1/4th of the gauge but I saw it go to almost 3/4ths! Lucky it was pretty cool outside. (45 degrees)
Any ideas on what this could be? I'm pretty sure that it is the thermostat or water pump. Thanks in advance for your help!

Does this happen in stop and go or highway driving
I had the same problem in stop and go, during highway driving the temp would come back down. I changed out the mechanical fan clutch and everything went back to normal - 1/4 the way up the temp gauge.
