Default coolant pump gasket

my coolant pump gasket died on me
is there a fix without going through all the cambelt change procedure?(which has been done 30k km ago according to audi official record and the previous owner)
do I need all the special tools for just the pump removal/installation?

Default Hmm...!

You don´t need the tools but there is some work to it...
If you have the 40v? the problem is just the screw in the bottom of the pump that is fitted behind the cambelt-pulley.

Just take of the front and mark crank and cam (even the belt) at 0, then take it of, simple, very simple....

Then you only have to mark the t-belt on 4places instead of three
No tools needed as you don´t change to a longer or shorter belt and as youve marked it nothing can go wrong, but tripple check and turn it by hand a few times before starting

going through the process mentally and realize that I have to remove the harmonic balancer to remove both sides of the cambelt cover.
audipages says there are special tools needed for that. is there a work around that I don't know of?

Well, but do you have to loosen the big one in the middle?
It seems like you only need to loosen the 4 small ones, you only loosen the big one if you need to change the seal!?!?

valid point.

So I take the covers off, undo this bolt to gain access to water pump and slacken the belt tension and just do the swap.
any other heads up? (that fuel pump installation procedure has left me scared for life by german engineering )

Do not forget to turn the crank to 0 and mark belt and wheels.
