As I was accelerating onto the NYS thruway yesterday, a rock struck my front windshield and created an 8 inch curvilinear crack. I think it came off a semi that didn't have mudguards.

I am going to try to find a recycled windshield.

Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also on a side note are you from ny? and what is up with the name? do you have a saab also? If so what type I have a saab also 98' 9000 cse (but with all the aero goodies)

I have a $500 deductible, so will have to price it out. I have the belief that my reporting this to the insurance company will raise my premiums, so if the fix is not a big deal, I would rather not report it.

If you are NY get a new insurace agent. If I remember correctly it is very cheap to add no deduct for glass to your policy. I had my replaced and did not effect my premium. Also I think the non ins glass was around 500-700.. I would go that route if you want to use a radar detector or cell phone in your car. the ins glass make most all electronics useless inside

Thanks! In fact my insurance carrier is sending over a guy from Quality 1st who will replace my window right in my driveway!
