Yep, I knew the fuel pump was starting to fail and the dealer confirmed that with a fuel pressure test.

My issue with the dealer is, I repeatedly told them the new pump they installed was not installed correctly. They dismissed me and came to the conclusion, that my tank was faulty and had to be replaced at a tune of $2600 and guaranteed that would fix my fuel issue. I know these guys work on commission and it makes me raise an eyebrow that they couldn't figure out the pump (no charge because it wasn't installed correctly) was loose but the tank ($2600) was the issue.

BTW: Love your line about "Audi techs were the best Lexus salesmen..."

I talked to the GM and Service Manager twice today. The first conversation was between me and the GM and I explained the 3-week ordeal.

The second conversation was with just the Service Manager. According to the dealership, the tech did everything by the book and coming to the conclusion the tank was faulty was correct. The Service Manager even said he called Audi's "service tech hotline" and Audi said they would have come to the same conclusion. #BS

The dealership called the shop that fixed the pump (tightened a bolt), and the story I told the dealer matched to what the independent shop said. The dealer continued to dismiss the fix by the independent shop as a "short term fix". The Service Manager even questioned if it really fixed the issue. I told him the pump doesn't make any noise and my car is running at 1/4 tank of gas...so yes it fixed the issue. What an arrogant ***. He couldn't even admit, his tech screwed up.

At the end of our conversation, he said he was going to "dig into this" and find out how this happened. After that he reluctantly offer me a free oil change for my inconvenience. I didn't even acknowledge his offer, and told him I wanted him to follow-up with me after he finds out how this happened. He told me he would call when he did. I'm not holding my breath.

The good thing is the saga is over and my car is running correctly again.
