FYI - Audi builds 100,000th A8
Audi, which claims to have pioneered the prestige aluminium-bodied car, has rolled out the 100,000th A8 from its Neckarsulm plant in Bavaria, southern Germany.
The milestone came eight years after the A8 was unveiled at the Geneva motor show and only a few months before an all-new version, sharing platform and engines with Volkswagen's Phaeton, makes its debut.
Two years ago Audi began large-scale aluminium car production with the compact A2 hatchback which has been built in Neckarsulm since mid-2000. Production of that model has taken Audi's aluminium car tally to over 180,000.
