Gas Smell and Mirror Question...
I remember this being asked before. When idling we can smell some gas in the cockpit of the A8. What was the fix?
Also, along the outer edge of the driver's rear-view mirror there is a streak about a half-inch wide that runs along the edge of the mirror, actually reducing the area that can be viewed. We've cleaned the mirror, but it doesn't come off. Has the mirror de-laminated. Should I go the normal routes like shokan and others to pick up a replacement, or is there another fix?

Well first of all remove the engine covers and look ..
around for gas leaks in the upper left hand corner of the engine bay. Locate feed and return lines and handle them to check for leaks. If you can't find anything with these check the entire fuel system front to rear (fuel tank unit issue) for leaks. If there are none found, then it is time to check the EVAP system, starting at the purge valve. Good luck and remember no smoking or open flame
