Solving the "flooding" problem
It seemed to me that if the car didn't fire up on the initial burst that then it failed to start due to something reminding me of FLOODING from the olden days. Anyway, I solve the problem by pulling the Fuel Pump RELAY but just temporarily, as soon as the engine turns over (2 or 3 seconds) I reinsert the relay.... AOK

Just my two cents. I had this issue on mine, turned out it was a tiny leak on the fuel filter allowing the fuel to drain out when the car would sit for a period. Replaced filter (rusty as hell) and problem solved. It's located under the rear passenger door behind a panell.
