Both front seat headrests was dead when I bought the car. I could hear the motor, but no movement. Last saturday I took it a part to fix it. It is very simple.

The cable is inside the tube. It is a round cable with square ends. It is able to slide into the motor too deep, so it slides out of the gearbox on the other end. I took the steel pipe off of the plastic tube and I cut 0.25 in of the plastic tube. It is hard to pull off. I put it back with Loctite superglue and I put wire tide on it.

Thanks TozoA8
The pics are really good. I'm very intrested from seeing the pics of it comming apart how easy it was to get everything buttoned up again. Did you have to fight with it or does it just clip back together with a little preasure?

Nice procedure and photos, but i gots a question.....
On mine, there's another little plastic do-dah, about 3/4" thick that goes between the end of the cable and the motor. The cable goes up through a rotating disc on the inside and it's got a couple of wires coming out, that disappear down the side of the seat. Anybody know what it does ? If it wasn't there, then the steel cable would be the perfect length....

You are look ing at the driver seat right?
That plastic piece is part of the memory system that remembers the location of the headrest based on the numbers on the door. The pass side will not have this.
