Default heating issues (please read its cold in AK)

My heater fan worked for a couple of minutes then stopped abruptly every time I started the car last week. Now it does work at all that I can see. Brother suggested fans, friend suggested heater motor was crapping out. I took it into a semi-warm garage for about 4 hours to let it thaw out and to investigate the fans. I didn't get far...
I really need some input, its generally below 25 degrees right now, dipping below 0 at night...It's horrible.
But thank god for heated seats.
Thanks in advance,
Daniel B.

Default Is it the original fan? If so....probably needs replacement

There is a lot more to troubleshooting, I would follow the procedure on audipages and see if there is power at the connector if you really want to troubleshoot it.

Does the engine warm up?

Default Sounds like you may need a new fan motor

How to tell?

Well, with the blower motor removed, the brushes will be worn to stubs, and the armature will be "grooved". But by then, putting in a new motor will seem justified. It takes a bit over an hour to do the job if you have a good assortment of 1/4inch drive extensions and stubby screw drivers ;-)

Whenb I repalced mine, I thought the job was a real pain while doing it, but after it was completed. "That was not so bad" ;-)

Heat in winter is a VERY nice thing.

Where is the motor at? Do I have to remove the fans? Should I replace the fans at the same time?
