Help! Coolant Leak!
The other day I started my 97 A8 to warm up for about 10 min. or so. When I came out I noticed a wet stain in the driveway and panicked! When I checked it out, I realized ti was a coolant leak. Soon after the dash indicated low coolant level. Took it to the shop and they told me it was the water pump. Hold up! I have the water pump replaced along with the timing belt and all related parts a year ago! After the shop pulled the front of the engine down, they insisted that I had to replace the timing belt because it was soaked with coolant. After I told them I would take a match to the car before I paid to have all that work done again, the shop changed thier stance. They told me that the lower hose looked swollen and that it was probably spraying coolant on the timing belt. HUH? Isn't the timing belt sealed??
Well, after replacing the lower hose and putting everything back together, the shop told me the leak was coming from a seal that was near the oil canister where the coolant cooled the oil. They claimed the seal cost only $30 but the labor was gonna cost me $800! I couldn't trust these guys so I had the car removed from their shop. At this point, I don't know who to trust, except the dealer, who has a waiting list of a week.
Can anyone help???!!!

I did mine a year ago. It took 4 hours and $15.

I got the procedure from Auidpages, and was OK up until the removing motor mounts and jacking up the engine part. Not sure if I want to tackle that!
