Idle Control air valve

Idle Control air valve
OK
The wife reported that our '99 A8 seems to "drive it's self" on some of these cold mornings. Not bad, but Hmmmm.
I confirmed Sunday (-26 C), I had to ride the brakes all through town, About 5 miles.
So:
Took the ICV off tonight. (Freak'in cold tools hurt my hands just to touch them)
Brought the unit inside for a look. Nice and clean! ' hooked up the bench power supply and the valve shows a nice progressive opening as voltage is applied starting at about 4V and fully open by 8Volts. Smooth action, and no scoring or burrs on the valve.
So, What's hanging up?
If it's moisture freezing in the electrical portion of the assembly, The unit might need to sit near the wood stove for a few hours!
I spritzed the throttle cable with silly-cones while I was in there. but of course, problem only shows first thing on cold mornings.
Comments anyone?

It happens on mine all the time below -5. I was thinking to remove the intake pipe from behind the
grille and let it suck air from the engine bay. I don't need cold air intake this time of the year.

Out with the old, In with the new
Oh! Like the "flex heat pipe" off the mainifold on Carburettor engines, with a bimetal controlled flapper in the air cleaner.
Now there is an idea I can work with!
I suppose a fellow could hose clamp a power resistor to the IAC valve body to warm things up. ;-)
