Kenwood DNX 9140 A8 install
Has anyone installed the Kenwood DNX 9140 in an A8L before? I would like to attempt an install this week. Not sure on ideal locations for the blue tooth mic/GPS transponder and would like the iPod adapter cable in one of the middle arm rests. Not sure exactly on how to remove center console or required panels for the install. Any information provided would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't bother trying to reuse the Bluetooth microphone or the GPS antenna. The mic won't work properly, and it is much easier to just mount a new GPS antenna under the dash (above the speedo cluster). Clear view of the sky and 8+ satellites most of the time.
Nobody makes an A8 install kit, so you'll have to be creative.
Metra has a few connectors that will save you some time. I just spliced into the VSS and Illumination wires since power, ground and pre-amp out wires were already installed by the previous owner.
The biggest issue is a matching face plate. I made a few trial pieces out of thin cardboard, then did the outline in Adobe Illustrator. Many local sign shops can laser cut the face plate for your out of black acrylic from that file ($10 or so). Krylon black textured plastic paint is almost a perfect match.
I installed an 80gig ipod in the center console. The head unit controls and charges the ipod.
All that is left is the steering wheel interface (installed, but still not programmed correctly).

I greatly appreciate you taking the time to anwser my post. I have had this project going for two weeks (off and on) now. I realize that there is already several posts that cover my questions on this forum as well as others. However, there is a such thing as information overload. Wealth of information on A6s/A4s but not so much with the A8. Thanks for your response.
