Default Wish I could have that done

What type of equipment did he use to increase pressure? How did he hook it up to the car? Through the vag-com port?

Was it vag-com and a adaptation channel? Wonder.....

Default I just called my tranny guy again and asked him about the fluid.

It was a very interesting conversation. He said ZF does'nt make TC and they also don't make clutch plates, they buying from other companies. Here is a link ,who makes our TC. He said basically all the fluids are good. The synthetic will last longer because it handles heat better ( actually it generates less heat). He said when you read on the bottle, the fluid is not compatible with some transmissions it is true, but only because some manufacture designs crappie trannys and the fluid will foam, make baubles and shift like ****. So what they do, they add ati-foam additives and that's what makes the difference.
He believes, that our tranny is a very nice design and you can put any kind of fluid in it.
So one company makes TC's, another makes clutches. He uses the same tranny fluid for every car he rebuild, he jus add some additives to the fluid. He gives warranty with his rebuilt trannys.
I still running Mobil 1 with no problems at all. I will never buy Audi fluid again. I drove my car with both fluid and I vote for Mobil 1.

http://www.dynamicmanufacturing.com/</a

Default So what tool did he use to "update" your car?

A hand held VAG-COM? Did he plug it into your vag-com port?

Or did he have to pull the TCU out of the electronics box?

Default This is how you can increase line pressure in the valve body.

I've asked my friend about increasing line pressure in the valve body and he said "you need to turn the Allen screw in the middle of the line pressure regulator valve to put more tension on the spring.

The main pressure regulator valve is the first on the left. He said that increased line pressure will result in harsher shifting. People, who like to smoke tires, they increase the pressure to make sure, the the tranny never slips. I would increase the pressure only on the TC lock pressure regulator valve.

Be careful, you don't want to crack the valve body with too much pressure."

Default To confirm, your tranny guy says our torque converters are from Illinois?

He either knows more about our transmissions than I expected or less than I feared.

Default I just went trough Dynamic's website and I found our TC.

Somehow the product list is mixed and some page is out dated. If you go Dynamic marketplace- Torque product line you will see, that Audi, Volkswagen, Volvo, Saab, Renault, Range rover, Peugeot, Ford, BMW with ZF transmissions, they all use Dynamic torque converters. I found ours by BMW.

Default He sent my TC out to rebuild and we've got it back in three days with UPS Ground.

If you know UPS, then you know it has to be close to get it back so soon. LOL

Default Re: What did he do?

What did he charge to test it and reprogram. He's only about 15 miles from my office. My real problem is the lock/unlock 3 times when letting off the gas over 60mph and then thumping the tranny. that's the only think that drives me crazy. did he connect under the dash or go into the TCU? and was is just software mods he did for you? keep us posted if anything changes

Default It would be nice if we can get an update. Please let us know how it behave after a week.

We need to see if it will be the same after a week or two. We thought too many times, "this is it!"

Default I think we'll all be at least a little "excited" if this is the solution.

Of course, any pats on the back at this point would be "premature congratulation."
Ok, I'll stop now.
