Default My son has slammed the seat belt buckle ...

... in the rear doors a number of times, and now they dont sit flush with the body when closed. I know I've read the secret of adjusting the doors here, someplace .. where's the adjustment? In the door or on the jamb strike plate?

thanks

Default You just need to loosen

the bolts on the hinges to adjust the front part of the rear door. To adjust the rear portion, you need to shift the striker around. There are adjustment tools available as well if you want the proper gap (although I'm not sure if you need adjustment tools to achieve it).

The factory tool is 3371 available at <a href="http://www.zdmak.com">ZDMAK</a> for $30 or there is also one <a href="http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=10412&itemType=PRODUCT&iProd uctID=10412">here</a> (courtesy of <b>rangervr4.2</b>)

Default OK so if I loosen the 2 bolts ...

... that hold on the striker, it will slide around, and simply tighten the bolts when Im done .. great. Thanks.

Default What are the consequences? I just want to check to make sure I didn't overtighten mine.

I might have on the door hinges, but I think my passenger hinge needs replacing anyways.

Anyone ever replaced a hinge on the front doors?

Thanks!

Default Re: What are the consequences? I just want to check to make sure I didn't overtighten mine.

It's easy to over-torque the fasteners on these cars due to their unique aluminum construction - but you would know if you did overtighten as you would have either twisted the head off the bolt or *worse* stripped out the inside, or *worse yet* broke off the mounting flange.

Always remember - you have to use special fasteners that are compatable with the aluminum frame and body, and pay special attention to torque values.
