Default My SRX installation.

The dash, with the modifed SRX hidden display LED, and main display unit.

The main display.

The front radar unit is mounted to the lower radiator support. I wanted to put this in the upper grill with the laser shifters, but it was too deep. Honestly, it is so sensitive I could never see this mattering. I did have to trim the grill around the radar sensor because of its depth.

<IMG src="http://www.ma70.com/danmac/A8/srx/frontradar.jpg">

The rear laser shifter is mounted to the face of my plate frame. Running the wires here was a 5 out of 10 on the hard scale. Bringing them to the rear was easy, running them through the trunk grommets was a bit harder. These have to be ran in a way to keep them in place so they do not get pinched by the trunk hinges.

One of the two front lasers shifters. I mounted the two front laser shifters to the radiator support to keep them up near the headlights. Since I do not run a front plate, the cop will most likely aim for headlights.

Mute/Laser shifting off button. This button does exactly that. When alarming, pressing it will mute the radar detector. Pressing it when you get lasered will stop shifting (jamming) the laser. This is nice since it will keep shifting until you feel like hitting it (after getting down to a normal speed).

<IMG src="http://www.ma70.com/danmac/A8/srx/muteandlasershiftoffbutton.jpg">

The SRX came with a single LED that was green when on and flashed red when alarming. This was annoying to me since all the dash lights were red, and the green was too bright at night. I was just going to swap the wiring so it was red when on, then flashed green but took it a step further with an extra fog light button. I took the switch apart and traced the harness wiring that came with it to the circuit board, and stock LEDs. I first planned to have the fog light switch light red when the SRX was on ( like when the parking lights are on), and blink the green triangle within the switch when alarming but there was a major issue. I could barely see the green triangle in my garage, let alone in daylight. So I installed a green LED into the face of the switch, and changed the wiring.

So currently the switch lights up red (within the fog light design just as if the parking lights were on), and when alarming the green LED flashs (and the powered speaker tells you ALL about it). I can see the green flashing pretty well during a bright and sunny day, but I might swap out the gren LED for a blue one ( our eyes are more sensitive to blue light).

Nice, very stealthy. What % of laser vs. radar do you get hit with?

Audi 2002 S 6 with SRX system

Just got back from a Pittsburgh to STL run last week. Took in the Stillers--Pats game--Stillers look for real--obviously.
Anyway---got flagged for 94 in podunk Indiana--Anybody have a brother lawyer between Indy and terre Haute?
Running the SRX system.----Pretty stealthy hwy patrol car---was apparently nestled into a long line of truckers---said he hit me with radar--but never got a beep.
Did finally get a laser strike (none around here)---I guess the shifters worked---he didn't go after me.

Never got a tic with my old K40---front radar in my S8 is moounted low--below the L plate housing---through a cut out in the lower front center grill---maybe that's too low---

Default No way, I get hit all the time with radar in my A8 with the radar mounted low. It is far to....

... sensitive to not work there. Keep in mind even glass hurts signal strenght and people put them behind there all the time

I would guess he either hit you from behind, or was pacing you ( which many cops do on main highways).

Guess it was just bad luck---I actually doubt the guy even hit me with radar----so, I was just day dreaming-stupid. 600 miles is a long trip in one shot.

It is possible he was guessing. I had a friend that is a cop and would tell me "above the law" stuff
