Need help ..looking at purchasing my first Audi

Re: I don't usually hang out on the A8 forum, glad I caught this thread...
The only S8 that I know of being successfully imported "whole" (with all desired options and with no modification work) belongs to a friend of the family who is involved in progressive philanthropy on the West Coast. The car is NOT registered as an S8, and the car is held in a trust with the trustee of that trust essentially self-insuring for the value difference between the insured car (A8 4.2) and the actual car (S8).
If you like, I can see if the person who brokered the deal would be willing to discuss details. As he also serves as the estate's premises barrister, he may not be in a position to, but it's always worth a shot.

Re: Need help ..looking at purchasing my first Audi
I'm back and without the A8,yes A8...not S8. I left earlier in the week and wished I would have taken a laptop and read Cameron's post earlier. I probably still would have gone, no matter, because it gave my wife and I a perfect excuse for a short vacation and besides, I always enjoy the trip up north.
The car was essentially a wheeled and mirrored, bone stock A8. I heard plenty of excuses like..."I was told" "He said so" "I can get the papers to prove it was imported" blah blah blah. When it became apparent to the seller that I was definitely not interested and was leaving, he quips..." Hey, I'm pricing it below the A8 market, so why not buy it?" I guess, at least to him, this justified my time and expense to look the car over.
Thanks for those who posted (knowledgeable people and those with truthful posts about REAL S8's) as I am looking forward to the possibility that the S8 will be on our shores soon.

Can you wait until January 2001
Can you wait until January 2001? This is the tentative intro date of the S8. No other details known. Seems odd AoA waited (and is waiting) so long, the current A8 will be replaced 1 year or so later. Mind you, same happened with the S4.
