Default Need help w insurance settlement "offer"

Close friend's 91 S8, approx 35K miles, is tentatively being considered a total loss w a proposed settlement in the $25K range. Car is ~meticulous. Anyone have suggestions for resources etc that we can talk to re establishing best value?

TIA fopr any/all responses

Phew, I'm beginning to get that feeling too.

Have also spoken to an Audi reseller in CA who specializes in resale of S cars. Told me he'd recently sold an '01 with 29K miles for.... $29K, which is right in line w my friend's offer.

Tell ya what-- If I had the cash and was in the market for a kick-*** 4 door I'd be a buyer at these miles/prices!

Default Check KBB.com, AutoTrader, etc...that's not a bad offer...

I agree with TimD. While we an all believe that this is a huge amount of car value for the price, it would be difficult to demonstrate a factual basis for a higher offer. Excellent condition on KBB is under $25k. There are about 20 '01 S8s on AutoTrader, with asking prices between $12300 and $18999 (with 1 private party at $24999). Some of these have been there for a while.

Tell your friend to take the money and run. Trying to justify a higher offer might cause someone at the insurance company to spend a few minutes doing the same little bit of research I just finished, and may actually get the offer reduced. If he/she wants to replace the car, there's enough there to get a very good condition '03 and probably have some $$$ left over.

Default 25K for an 01 S8, take the money before they change their minds.

It doesn't matter how meticulous the car was.

Default Your friend could buy an immaculate '03 from BruceM for even $$

Tell your friend to take the money and run!

Default I bought my immaculate '03 a year ago with 25K miles on the clock.......

$32K. $25K for an '01 with those miles sounds fair to great......

Default Thx again for all responses

Car has been flat-bedded to an authorized Audi body/resto shop in far north Chicago burbs for a closer evaluation. IMHO based on personal experience and collective wisdom of others, she oughta push for the total loss settlement and buy a replacement car....
