Default New A8 2002 D2 3.7 quattro noob questions

Hey guys

I just bought an Audi A8 2002 model D2.

It has the 3.7 V8 engine and quattro drive.

I used to own BMW's and I could always find a vin decoder for those but I have not been able to find one for the Audi.

I did not get any booklet with the car But I would love to find out what extras my car has.

Can you point me to the right direction ?

best regards.

On USA models, there is an ID sticker in the trunk (boot) in the spare tire well. It contains info on paint color, engine, trans and all option codes.

Option codes can be decoded here >>

Thank you very much I will check the boot tonight . 🙂

Do you experts know if the same plastic pipe is used in 4.2 and 3.7 which is prone to leak in the oil cooler ?

Thank you for your great answers

What I have done since I wrote here last time is that I bought the darn 077 117 411 A but with a twist !

And I fount the sticker in the boot !

And I found more problems or projects that I need to fix !

After googling around I have notices that these cars are prone to leak "dehumidifier" in both foot wells I am guuessing that the drain is clogged . The red rubber thingy .

All pointers are well appreciated

And I found a button Im not sure what does .

I'm in the same boat as you here in Spain with my 1999 D2 quattro w/facelift. I had been researching info on the prefacelift D2's and noticing things weren't adding up, specifically as I was changing the thermostat and found that it wasn't a simple swap and had to dig in behind the timing belt.
I have all the manuals for the vehicle, however they're in Spanish so I don't know if they will be of any help to you. Anything specific you wanted to know about? I could always try and translate a few pages.

That red rubber thingy is exactly what is not draining outside of the car. There is one on either side of the transmission tunnel and they are drains for the HVAC system. Your best bet is to remove them, clean them out then snip about 1/8th inch off of the end that sticks outside so that it doesn't get clogged as easy anymore. They get clogged because the rubber sticks to itself and kind of seals shut but if you snip a bit off the rubber doesn't touch and re seal. it worked for me.

The smaller black button is for the steering wheel movement. I believe its for when you remove the key from the ignition the wheel moves to its upmost and away position enabling you to get in and out of the car easier.
