Default No heat in my 97 A8

Well it's certainly a wonderful time of year for this sort of problem, isn't it? I've tried my best to look for other stuff around here, but all I've really found is mention of coolant levels and thermostats. My coolant levels look good, and VAG-COM isn't giving me any errors, so I'm basically looking for any tips on things that can be checked easily first, and then things that are going to be more difficult to check or fix. Thanks in advance.

EDIT (Clarifications) -- Initial description is a bit vague... There is plenty of airflow, it's just that the air coming out of the vents is barely a few degrees warmer than the air outside (We're talking an increase of 2 or 3 degrees C, not much when it's below freezing). The engine temp gauge shows normal operating temp, so that seems to rule out the common symptom for themostat problems.

Default I seem to remember something about the coolant valves to the heater cores being N.O. valves,

so that sounds odd.

This thread is coming at it from a different angle, but is dealing with the same components, and may be helpful.
