I think they are the old TDMA phones, You need to check with your service provider to see if they even have the "old" technology capability.
Most providers use the newer GSM technology.
Start there- it will at least tell you if it is impossible.

wow, interesting. The analog networks are practically shut down as of 2008 or so. I have a nokia in car setup from 1998, in a 1999 Audi A8 with the cradle. Mine still works with the old candy bar phone with Tmobile sim card. Prepaid too heheh

Prepaid phones
Actually Prepaids still use the TDMA networks, so that is a good place to look to make it work. I think sprint, T-Mobile are two "majors" that still suppor it. ATT (Cingular) Has been working since 2006 to get rid of TDMA, if they do still have it they charge a monthly surcharge. Verizon, I don't know.
