Default Old bolts won't die? Trouble with the shock replacement...

So I have the A8 up on jackstands and I'm following the procedure here.

I have the nut off the bolt that holds the top set of control arms arm, but the bolt won't budget. I put some WD40/losener spray stuff on it, let it sit, applied a second dose a few hours later, and it still won't budge. Any ideas how to get it out? I have some nice Bilstiens here and they're ready to go.

Default hit it with an impact. Its rusted in. Once its loose use a 1/4 inch ...

... extension and hammer it out. Just did it.\

Fronts done

Default Sometimes a little propane torch heat loosens em right up.

Careful not to burn any rubber and other essentials of course.

Default Get some real penetrating oil.

WD40 isn't it.

It's not WD40, it's PB Penetrating Catalyst

Is there a reason to drop those arms? I didn't have to drop mine for front spring install.

Default We did the fronts in about 30 minutes each. Very easy. We took them out. No clue if it was....

.... necessary.

Default correct that bolt can stay. Here's what I do:

1) disconnect the sway bar (2) 13mm each side
2) take out the back bolt on the lower straight arm and push down. You can leave the balljoint connected.

You should now have enough room to get the strut out.
