Default Paul's Livin' Large!!!

Oh yea, check this out, got my brake brackets and hats today, they are nice! Didn't really have much time to really look closely at them, but they are LIGHT, and milled out of aluminum with exception of the studs, which are welded.

So I picked up the box at FedEx after work, had to go down to the boat because we have a Coast Guard inspection tomorrow, so I brought the box with me so I could open it there!

This is the view from the Dock, that is the Sears Tower in the background with the top of the boat on the left of the picture.

And the brake part's cousin that they will be kissing with:

I guess I'll have something to do on Saturday after all. I've decided to just put on the Pagid Orange pads for Grattan on Saturday, both front and rear.

Default Perfect timing ...

and so much for boating on Saturday, but I'm sure you're glad you now have all the brake parts in hand.

If you get a chance, weigh both the new rotor w/ hat and the stock rotor. I think you'll be surprised how much weight you saved. Shucks, while you're at it, weigh the new caliper w/ bracker and the stock caliper.

Default Those look great!!

Have you considered having them anodized?
and did you have them made or may I ask where you got them. My experience had been that they are more or less unobtainium. (the hats that is)

Default They are unobtainium

It's a special metal that is very hard to get. I got them from www.bira.org, it's their system 6 for the A8. I'm the first one with this design, so I will have to test fit on my car this weekend, hopefully it will work.

This has been 4 month process, but if they fit and the final design is completed, then making 5 or 10 sets for those who want them shouldn't take nearly as long.
