Review on Tozo'ed Valve Body and TPS
Just thought I would post to exonerate Gabor for another job well done even though it has been done many a time here on AW. After a couple of days with the VB rebuild and new TPS my 97 is like a whole new car! It shifts a lot smoother, engages quicker, doesn't dropout after shifts or when coming to a stop. The hunting is virtually gone, it still hunts a little when I don't accelerate at all when going 30-40 up a hill, but a small blurp of the pedal and it down shifts correctly. I made the recommended switch to Mobil 1 Mercon V with Lubeguard and it seems my transmission is responding well.
Seriously, for anyone considering this mod, money well spent. Best money I have spent on my A8 to date.
Thanks again Gabor

He cured the dropout 100% on my 97
It was soooo nice. The hunting never went away....just changed the hunting points. It took a while to learn that.

Re: Is there standard pricing from Tozo - assuming a still-functional trans?
He charged me $650 for the rebuild and a new modified TPS sensor, this also included return shipping. Like I said, it was worth every penny. It makes my A8 fun again. As to adding the Lube guard, it is my understanding that the transmission will drain out the stand/fill plug unless it is at the right temp (122 F) so if you were to get it at the right temp, open the fill plug, fill with lubeguard and or ATF if low or until it starts to flow out. If you fluid level was right on, you wouldn't get much in!
Good luck!
