S8 won't start - immobilizer P1570
My 2001 S8 wouldn't start. Thought it was the battery - tried jumping it - same issue. I scanned the system using VCDS Lite which showed a fault code. I will post a picture of the screen tomorrow, but code P1570 came up- "Engine start blocked by immobilizer". How do I fix this?!
PS - this same thing happened yesterday, but on the 3rd or 4th attempt, it finally started.

If the battery has been disconnected or voltage was low enough (weak battery or bad charge or bad connection) that the car "sensed" it was disconnected, the key has to remain in the ignition position for about 5 seconds to reset, before moving to starter position. Watch the "key in little car" icon on the instrument cluster, to make sure it turns off before going from ignition to start.
If that icon stays on, the car hasn't recognized the key circuitry yet.
The above is just one guess, to start with.

Sounds like the pickup coil around the ignition cylinder is on the way out.
With that being said, the immobilizer won't prevent the car from starting, it'll just kill the engine after 2-3 seconds. Is that what's happening? Could be an old, unrelated code. Hard to say without knowing how long ago it was cleared.

When I first scanned it, I got error code P1570 ("Engine start blocked by immobilizer"). That code is now gone (or my VCDS-lite is is POS), and I now have code P1602 ("Power Supply Terminal 30 Voltage too low")

Had my trusted indy shop look at it: he came up with a bad fuel pump, claiming that it's definitely 100% the fuel pump. So I understand a new OEM one goes for $1,100?? wtf. Are there any reputable AM ones, like Bosch, that I can use?
I've learned this:

I believe there's an Ebay seller from the UK that sells them at a good price, but a quick search led me to this:
