Default System too Rich (both banks)

Hi,

So I bought this cheap Chinese cable from eBay and ran VCDS-Lite on the D2 I got earlier this month. Unfortunately, I got a bunch of fault codes related to fuel trim. After some research, I think 17547 and 17537 are the same as 17545 and 17535 for Bank 2. CEL is not on, and the engine runs quite well. Last week I changed the air filter (don't know if the codes pre-date this change).

Does anyone know what the cause could be?

Address 01: Engine Labels: Redir Fail!
Controller: 4D0 907 557 K
Component: 4,2L V8/4V MOTR AT D02
Coding: 04273
Shop #: WSC 00000
VCID: 341B9FD31723
4 Faults Found:
17545 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add): System too Rich
P1137 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17547 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs
P1139 - 35-10 - Please Register/Activate - Intermittent
17537 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs
P1129 - 35-10 - Please Register/Activate - Intermittent
17535 - Fuel Trim; Bank 1 (Mult): System too Rich
P1127 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
Readiness: N/A

Btw, the car just reached 100000 kms this afternoon.

I would erase all codes and drive for a while (multiple driving cycles...engine on/engine off). Only then re-check for codes...many codes can be generated during repairs, but remain stored in the memory until erase.

All those codes (if current) point to the fuel pressure regulator, front 02 sensors and possibly the MAF...BUT, if current, should (but not for sure) have tripped other related component codes.

Don't assume anything, until or if you generate your own codes, well after clearing the old codes.

Thanks. May I ask how to clear those codes? I used unregistered VCDS-Lite just to give it a try. Should I pay for the registration?

It actually didn't finish scanning because it's not registered. All it did was to scan 25 Immobilizer, 01 Engine, and 03 ABS Brakes. Fortunately, 25 and 03 are fine. (There is a key signal too low with the immobilizer, but I know how that happened: cloned key but didn't know the car had immobilizer; the original key was in my pocket).

I have the same free version...very useful just as it is.

While you're looking at the fault codes window, showing the current recorded codes (engine for example), you'll see an option below it to "clear codes"...click on that...the codes should disappear, leaving "no faults found". Done.
