Are there any repair manuals for the A8?

that actually come in paper form.
This is what I got from Bentley:
"Unfortunately we do not have any information on an upcoming paper version at this time. We may produce one in the future, but there is no set timeframe yet.
Best regards,
Bentley Publishers"

Re:You can't blame Bentley
Audi designs the manuals--for folks who have been through their tech training programs.
Bentley just prints them for Audi. Audi retains the main copyright.

I don't blame Bentley for the manual, I blame Bentley for the CRAP service they "provide"
Their crappy (I mean copy) protection of the program must be authenticated by a "live" person, not automated over the net. So when the program pukes on a Saturday morning, it is useless until sometime Monday when you can get it re-authenticated during "normal" business hours (and you've wasted the entire weekend). I'm sorry, but this is the 21st century, and as far as software is concerned normal business hours are 24/7. This is not an isolated occurrence, by the way.

Their software won't run the CD for you on the computer it was installed on? Or the computer "pukes" so you're trying to run it on a different computer after the initial installation? I thought you only needed their help if you wanted to put it on different computers. I have no btdt with the CD system, so this is not a challenge, just a search for information.

Exactly.
My home computer blew up last month so my CD copy of ebahn won't work after installation onto the new hard drive. When I go to my subsciption file on the Bentley website, it says I need to deactivate the software from the computer it was originally installed on. Well, the computer's hard drive has ceased to exist so that is an impossibility. So, the next step will be to call them, but as I have stated before, I printed out the whole thing so I'm in no hurry to deal with them.
By the way, you are allowed two simultaneous installations/activations, but I have the other on my work computer. I suppose one could deactivate that one and use it on the home computer, but that's no fun!

I've had both situations- the hard drive crashes (like ricoblanco) or the Bentley Program itself....
stops being able to validate itself and refuses to run (no computer hardware issues). I've had the second problem at least three times. All of my gripes with Bentley revolve around their very poorly implemented copy protection scheme. If it were a simple matter of going online with a serial number and other identifying information, it wouldn't be so bad, but having to wait to get a person on the phone is a real PITA.
