Too good to be true?

I was quoted something like $1,800 for it back when I had my '97
Insane amounts of $$ for labor......I had it done with a BUNCH of other work in the same area, so the labor to get to it was a hell of a lot cheaper as they were already so deep into the car. Definitely price shop it, as it's not too difficult a repair, but just very labor intensive from what I have been told....

Carfax will tell you if it has been totalled and has a salvage title.....
but won't mention if there has been damaged, and poorly repaired......If you are really worried about it, and the deal is good, get the car to a very good body shop, preferably one that knows about aluminum repairs, and they can tell you if there has been any work done to the car in terms of body panels or frame repair. As far as the price, it does sound very low - you'd spend more than that on a base '97 with similar models in todays market......
Maybe the guy just needs to dump the car....He could probably get somewhere in the low to mid 20s on trade in value to a dealer, and it's probably worth somewhere in the mid 20s as a private party sale......but, a lot of people have lost their jobs, and need cash these days, if it's for real, and has a clean title with a straight frame, and good body (even with some repair work, if it was done right, no one will ever know) then it's a hell of a deal!!!!!
