hi all im a new member here but long time reader but now i have a question i have an 01 a8l and my transmission seems to be acting up when shifting in to 2nd gear it shifts fine from 1st then in to 2nd but as soon as it is in 2nd the engine revs and it thumps quite hard back into gear it doesnt do it all the time but seem to do it more often when its warmed up than cold there are no codes any help would be greatly appreciated

I suspect it's low on fluid and have been meaning (for weeksssss now) to top it off.

Unfortunately, the facelift cars have not escaped transmission woes. My 2001 A8L with only 76000 miles was "shuddering" quite violently in 2nd and 3rd gear under load around 2000 rpm. Also, in 5th gear there was hunting, where revs would cycle up and down between 1400 and 1700 rpm.
Prognosis by the dealer? Transmission needed replacing! Fortunately, I had extended warranty to cover it. It is now silky smooth as it should be.
