Default Weird A/C issue...

...blows warm air out of the driver's side vents but is normally cold out of the passenger vents.

I tried changing the A/C controls from AUTO and the various vent port options, recirculate, etc., but I can't get anything to change.

Also, a couple weeks ago I did notice some of that black foamy material blow out of the center driver's side vent. I've seen that before as cars age so I'm not sure if that's significant or not.

Any ideas?

Default Maybe a blown fuse

I would have to look at the schematics, but I know if you have a blown fuse, you'll get the symptoms you have, espeically if the one side is still blowing cold air.

It's the heat control valve that defaults to full open with no power I believe.

Jack had this problem before I think. I know Tom Tulling had solved it before.

Default Full heat on both sides: blown fuse. Warm on driver side: low AC charge?

There's only one fuse for both heater valves. But others have noted warm air coming out of the driver's side when the AC refrigerant was low.

Default Low refrigerant, eh? That's really odd for just one side.

The passenger side gets really cold (as usual). Which made me discount the refrigerant possibility.

If it does turn out to be refrigerant, what would cause such off behaviors Tom?

Thanks.

Default Its Low a/c..

I recharged mine and it was fine. When there is not enough refrigerant in the system the one side of the condensor will cool down, but since there is not nough R134 to expand the to the whole condensor only 1/2 got cold.

Am i confusing a/c parts.. by condensor i mean the radiator in the dash that actually cools the air.

You can verify by hearing a slight hissing sound from the pass side of the engine compartment under the pass side windshield. It sounds like a wooshwooshwooshwoosh. Thats actual scientific terminology
