ZF tranny update on my situation
So I convinced my shop to call the ZF wholesale distributor 45 minutes from here, and it's good news. The transmission from Audi and labor would have been around $7000.
The unit from ZF locally (free delivery yay) is going to come in around 4.5k-ish
My independent ordered the unit this afternoon.
BTW they suggest (and my shop agrees) that we change the transmission cooler since the pan was so full of metal and clutch debris .. a whole wad of it could be hiding in the cooler, ready to rush right into the NEW transmission.
I agreed on a quality aftermarket bolt-on trans cooler instead of popping for a full radiator from Audi.
