19mm Axle Bolt Part #
Hey Everyone! First time poster here. Does anyone know the part # for the 19mm axle bolt for a 2009 S8? I'm having a hard time sourcing this and while there have been plenty of discussions regarding torque specs and the stretch aspect of this bolt, I haven't been able to find a specific part #. The closest I've gotten is 4E0-498-203 which is the Outer Boot replacement kit. A Bill of Material for this Kit would be nice, but haven't found that either.
Back story, I had to remove the wheel assembly/knuckle/bearing housing (whatever you want to call it) to have a broken pinch bolt machined out. This is a torque-to-yield bolt that must be replaced! Thanks for the help.

Hi and welcome, Eric.
The axle bolts are about the only part I've had to buy from the local dealership, and I was surprised not only that they were in stock, but at how cheap (~$10 each) they were, so there's that
Always fun torquing something that large to stretch tightness. 3/4" breaker bar with cheater extension and stand my 200+ pound self on it. Scary stuff!

Yes, It basically sortof is a torque to yeild bolt. The fact is you don't need to replace it, they are way overengineered and oversized for their use and have no stretch area (other than the threads). The thread is or M16x1,5 or similar, huge bolt. I have a bunch of them, old and new in all styles (30mm socket, 25mm hex and double hex, 19mm allen). Never stretched one of those or had a problem loosening or fastening one.
I have done litterarly close to a hundred bearings for VAG cars (tens of audis, vw, Skoda, Seats), and never a single problem with that bolt.
Of course it is best to swap it out, but you will never break that bolt.
People even sell tens of used ones online for some goddamn reason. I wouldnt pay a dime for a used one when new ones come free with even the cheapest bearing kits

Volvos (V70MK1/2, S60MK1, S80MK1, XC90MK1) use same style driven wheel bearings, and use a M10x1,5m bolt. That needs swapping every time at a torque to like 50Nm (around 40lbft).

Awesome answers guys! Thanks so much. I have the old bolt in there for now. I wondered the same thing about using the old one; that bolt looks super sturdy and I didn't see any issues with it. I guess it gets down to the molecular level though. Thanks again!
