Default 2006 AUDI A8L ... PO221.... EPC / CEL / .. HELP PLS

HI I HAVE A 2006 AUDI A8L .... MY epc LIGHT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TRIANGLE SIGN FOR TRACKING I THINK CAME ON TOGETHER ,,,, WHEN I SHUT DOWN THE CAR AND RESTART IT THE EPC AND TRIANGLE SIGN WILL GO AWAY BUT THEN SOMETIMES COMES BACK WHILE DRIVING.... CEL STAYS ON ... BUT ON SOME STARTS THE CEL GOES AWAY TOO ... I READ THE CODE WITH SCANNER AND ITS p0221 ... THE GUY AT THE parts store says it the the throttle position sensor but he could not find one in his computer .... said i might need to buy whole new throttle body ? is tht true and is that whts wrong with the car ?

also whenever the epc light comes on with the triangle sign i loose power as if the car is not running properly i can still go upto 70mph but it goes slow

help pls thanks

You need VCDS scan. It will tell much more than only that one code.

Default 2006 A8

I am having the same issue with my A8. Same codes too. All O2 sensors have been replaced, PCV replaced, and Spark plugs replaced. The fuel filter is on order and It’s time for a new battery this week. I’ve been following these “ECP problem” threads for a while now. To no avail. Oh and I’ve searched for vacuum leaks EVERYWHERE. NOTHING. I will be following your thread. Hopefully one of the AudiWorld experts can shed some light for the both of us.

Hello Liljoey,
You do realize that this thread is from 2014, and dildildil has not been active for the last 15 months...
Being you state that you have the same codes as the OP, did you check either G187 or G188, it seems you have done everything but.

I am still alive haha, but yes this sounds familiar the issue is with this module somewhere i believe you can either buy a new/used one and program to ur car or get urs repaired

I certainly hope it’s not the ABS module again. Had that replaced about 6mo ago by Audi service shop here inGermany. Think I’ll be taking your route and let her go. I’m up there in age as well and am losing interest in the constant issue with it.

Appreciate the quick response.

I had this exact issue. Ended up replacing the throttle body with an ebay one. Since then it hasn't surfaced.

Thanks for the reply GIOVANNI. LOL. I noticed after the fact. Appreciate the throttle control note. I have in fact taken it apart and gently cleaned it as other threads have suggested. It was good for about 60 km and started with the same issue again. EPC/ESP, horrible fuel consumption etc. so I clear all codes and do it all over again every 20km or so. Story of my life.
